Dirt and soap had been accumulating on the bathroom floor and the shower walls over the years. The clients often managed to recover the color of the tiles but no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't wash away the dark hue from the grout lines. They asked us why that was the case, explaining they cleaned the surfaces regularly and wiped the excess moisture away. We explained that even though there were many factors that could've had a negative impact on the floor, the damage was likely the result of using bad cleaning products.

Most store-bought products contain soap or acidic substances. On the one hand, soapy cleaners tend to leave a sticky residue behind that traps dirt and other external agents. On the other hand, acidic cleaners can damage tile and deteriorate the grout lines. To avoid damaging the floor, the clients should use a pH-neutral cleaner like Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner. Not only is the cleaner safe for tile and grout, it also contains enhanced properties that can help reduce common household bacteria, mold, and mildew.

The homeowners also admitted to occasionally using a dirty mop to clean the bathroom floor as well as letting it air dry. This practice allowed the soil to settle deep into the grout lines, making it difficult to remove with common household items and store-bought products.

To solve the problem, we offered the client a two-step procedure. First, we would thoroughly clean the bathroom floor and the shower walls to remove any trace of soap scum and dirt. Next, we would seal the grout lines on both surfaces with our proprietary sealant ColorSeal. The customers agreed to the service and scheduled an appointment for the next day.

We went back to the client's home the following day to perform the service. We began by soaking the dirty surfaces with our proprietary pH-neutral cleaner. After letting it sit for a few minutes, we used a high-speed scrubber to extract the dirt and soap scum from the grout lines on both surfaces. To ensure any trace of mold that might have begun growing was completely eradicated, we also sanitized the surfaces with a steam cleaner.

Once we finished cleaning, we dried the surfaces and performed the necessary repairs. To finish, we applied ColorSeal to the grout lines on both surfaces. On top of giving grout a brand-new appearance, this thick acrylic-based sealant won't crack or peel. ColorSeal contains hardeners that strengthen the grout, making it resistant to stains, water, mold, mildew, and other external agents. It also comes in a variety of colors. The clients chose a brown hue for the shower and white for the bathroom floor.

When we finished, we let the clients see the results. They were ecstatic to see the grout on their bathroom's surfaces revamped. The homeowners thanked us for the job and assured us they would call back for maintenance.

Before leaving, we gave the owners a few tips to help them maintain the bathroom in good condition. We first recommended cleaning the bathroom once a week using a clean mop and soap-less, pH-neutral cleaner. We also advised them to never let the floor air dry. It's best to wipe the excess moisture away using a dry cloth. They should also keep the shower enclosure properly ventilated to avoid mold and mildew growth. The homeowners thanked us for the tips and assured us they would follow them.
